What's the difference between nephrology and dialysis?+
Nephrology is the medical specialty that diagnoses and manages kidney conditions. Dialysis is a specific treatment — one that nephrologists prescribe and oversee — used when kidney function has declined enough that the kidneys can no longer filter the blood on their own.
How long does a dialysis session take?
A typical haemodialysis session runs for a few hours, with the exact duration and frequency set by your nephrologist based on your individual condition.
Is dialysis available in an emergency?
Yes. As Doren operates 24 hours a day, acute dialysis can be arranged outside of scheduled sessions when medically necessary
Does the unit accept HMO or health insurance?
Yes. Doren’s HMO Liaison Centre supports patients using health insurance plans for both nephrology consultations and dialysis treatment.
